In August, Google had officially announced audio streaming with download quality controls for YouTube Music and latest streaming service would adopt a more consistent update cycle. The much sought after feature is beginning to roll out on Android.
The streaming music was first spotted in July during an Insight of version 2.39 apk Google confirmed these feature last month, but is now adding the functionality on YouTube Music for Android.
Go to Settings, there is a new Audio quality on Wi-Fi and Audio quality on mobile network. Both have 4 options:
Low,
Normal,
High,
and
Always High.
The bit rate of each setting is not specified, but in line with almost same controls found in Google Play Music.
The Downloads menu adds “Audio quality” with Low, Normal, and High and “Video quality” setting allows users to set the streaming service to only store audio.
Beyond an audiophile’s needs for the best quality sound, adding this setting will help users better manage their data plans while streaming, along with device storage when queuing songs for offline playback.
YouTube Music for Android this afternoon enabling the new options. If it is not available, be sure to update latest version (2.49.57) via the Play Store. Try closing YouTube Music from the system Recents menu and reloading the app.
